The team can utilize the funds in any way they see fit such as for covering tournament or travel costs, apparel, additional ice, etc.
If a team receives donations in excess of their team budget, the additional funds will come back to the Association at the end of the year and will not be distributed back to families. This is in keeping with the SGMHA policies regarding fundraising.
2) APPAREL SPONSOR
A business or individual can cover the costs of apparel using the following guidelines:
Non-game worn apparel includes dryland gear (shirt and/or shorts), sweaters, jackets, track suits, practice jerseys or similar.
Game worn apparel can be sponsored as follows:
Matching helmets - no company logo is permitted
Socks - provided by the Association and cannot be sponsored
Pants or pant shells - SGMHA logo must be on the front, sponsor logo can be on the back. Design mock-up must be approved by the 2nd VP and Equipment director prior to ordering.

The logo and/or name of the sponsoring business may be applied to the apparel. The sponsor must provide the logo in the appropriate format to the apparel company.

Inclusion of the company name and/or logo in programs
Inclusion of the company name and/or logo on a pop-up banner that can be displayed in the lobby of the arena during home games, if the arena rules permit this.
The size of the logos displayed in any recognition materials should be relative to the donations provided. For example, if one company donate $1000 and another company donated $500, the logo for the first company should be larger.
Teams may not add any company logos to their team page on the SGMHA website, only association-wide sponsors are added.
SGMHA would recommend that, at minimum, all teams provide a signed team picture along with a thank you card/letter to all team sponsors.
FORMS
Teams may use the following letter templates to assist in seeking donations to support their team activities. The template should be modified to include all relevant team details and contacts and should be specific about how they would utilize any money that would be donated.
SPRUCE GROVE MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
Dear SGMHA Membership, Managers & Coaches.
As many of you are aware, we have launched a new Corporate Sponsorship Program for our association this season. So far we have had some success in securing a few sponsors but have a long ways to go to build this program to where we need it.
This program is designed to help SGMHA raise funds to improve our association in areas such as player / coach development that will naturally grow over time. This is totally separate from any individual team fundraising efforts that each team will budget for each season. Going forward we must optimize our control over the differences between Corporate Sponsors & Team Fundraising. This being said, nothing has really been changed as far as the fundraising guidelines but what we do have to do is ensure that all sponsors looking at advertising on our players (Jersey’s, Helmets, Gloves, Pant Shells, etc) go through the proper channels at SGMHA. For all these inquiries please contact our 2nd VP at 2ndvp@sgmha.ca to find out more or with questions.
